Recipe by Martha Stewart

Did your grandmother make the most delicious Frugal Dessert dishes in the past?

Well, my grandma did, and she always had one secret ingredient that she used in all of her recipes. Love lots of love.

Nothing compares to the kindness and care that my grandma had for her family. The same love that is put into everything she bakes. My Grandma’s Frugal Dessert, no-bake cheesecake, could make even my gloomiest days better.

Do you want to create a Frugal dessert that is cheap, easy and tastes, just like your grandma used to make? Then this recipe is for you? It will taste just like your grandma’s no-bake cheesecake from the past.

We all have memories of a grandma’s no-bake cheesecake. It is one of the most popular desserts worldwide, especially in the summertime, it is the best dish to take to a summer bbq.

A no-bake cheesecake can be topped with whipped cream or crumbled cookies for texture and flavour. There are so many variations. But here are mine.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 packages digestive biscuits
  • 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 11 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 2 8-ounce packages of cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 14-ounce can (1 1/4 cups) sweetened condensed milk

Directions

Instructions

  • Digestive biscuits should be placed in a plastic bag and crushed up into a fine crumb.
  • Pouring the crumbs into a plate, now include the sugar. Mix in the butter until it is fully combined.
  • Spread the crumb mixture into a non-stick cake pan and press it flat. The crust should be chilled for 10 minutes in the freezer.
  • Make the filling now. Thoroughly blend the cream cheese in a bowl with a mixer, now the condensed milk can be incorporated gradually. Vanilla and lemon juice should be beaten in.
  • Undo both sides of the pan, and remove the cheesecake.

How easy was that…Enjoy?

First Modification

In this modification, you don’t need the crust. Instead, put the cheesecake filling in a long glass first. Top with crumbled cookies (such as Oreos or chocolate wafers) or you can use digestive biscuits, and then add fresh fruit, such as raspberries or strawberries. Vary the layers. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes and serve. These are excellent to have at parties. My kids love these too. Get creative with your fillings. The fillings you can use are endless.

Second Modification

You will prepare chocolate cheesecake with this second change, but instead of using crackers for the crust, you will use 50 chocolate wafer cookies. After combining the ingredients, fill the crust with the mixture and stir in 1 cup of micro chocolate chips. On top of the cold cheesecake, add additional chips.
